Does anyone have a child that goes to 6th form Welbeck College in Leicestershire. I was just wondering how hard it was to get in and what its like.

DD is in lower sixth there and enjoying it, although it has taken several months to adjust to the intensity of the experience. The college taken students who want to become engineering officers in the Army, Navy, RAF or MOD. I think it depends on which service you apply for, as to how hard it is to get into, certainly you need good GCSEs then pass a three or four day residential selection process. Which service is your DD or DS considering?

I think she is considering the army, thanks! Glad to hear your daughter is enjoying it. Can I ask what gcse grade in maths your dd got?

Sorry that I didn't get back sooner. She got an A* but then it is her best subject. You've probably already looked at this www.dsfc.ac.uk/Apply/requirements.asp link on Welbeck's website that tells you about entrance requirements. Looks like you need an A in GCSE Maths.
Each year they take around 100 into the army, 35 into RN, 35 into RAF and about 15-20 into the MOD (DESG) so at least she is picking one with least odds.
