Applied For OU Course

Studied in 2009, an Access course to go back to university and was accepted on the English Language and Literature course at both DMU and Northampton University, but my health problems got in the way and as such I've been looking into home study to try to continue on the path of study I've always wanted to follow.

So looking to start in October, using a student loan to finance it, as far as I can see, and have applied for the standard pathway BA (Honours) English Language and Literature.

Going to see how flexible they can be with me, regards disability, and hopefully finally get there and achieve my degree (in six years, lol).

Soooo, this is my thread. Anyone else home studying? Got any good advice?

Aargh, did you a lovely long reply, and lost it.

Get yourself over to the student parents thread

here

You'll find lots of people in a similar situation, and lots of procrastination.

There are many many people on my current OU course with varying disabilities, and my sense is that they are all very well supported. Lots of allowances made for exams, study materials in different formats, and flexible submission of TMAs for unexpected problems.

Good luck, I hope you enjoy it as much as I am enjoying my course. Smile

Seeing as you've mentioned a disability, don't forget to apply for DSA!

The OU has it's own DSA office so you don't need to deal with Student Finance England.
