leaving party/meal?

are you giving your dc one?
we had loads of people ask but we just can't afford it are we bad parents?

When I went to uni a couple of years ago, money wasn't exactly flowing, so my Mum just cooked me my favourite meal (Roast chicken, heavy on the stuffing and mash ) and we had a bottle of wine at home. Appreciated it as much as any of my friends who had big meals out.

Thats what i was planning with a cake and a bit of a present. Still not sure what might be a nice cereal bowl from the Disney shop~?

It was her older brother (34) who never see's her and her nan on her dad side who are moaning she lives with me (her stepmum 28) and her dad and younger sibling with one due any day. they started it all of feel really bad but feel better that we not the only ones.

No party, and I don'tknow any of my sons friends who did have a party before they left home for university in 2006 and 2010.
They seem to make their own arrangements for a parting of ways with their friends by going to the student night at a local night club.
We do tend to take them for lunch on the day we take them to university (and each time we drop them off thereafter - might be the last good meal they have for a while, especially on moving into houses with their friends they made in the first year!)

When DD1 and DD2 left we just had a family meal on the day before they went. We had already bought them stuff to take with them, EB nice crockery

Think we just going to do the meal and pressie idea sh will be going on the sat so not enough room in car for us all and her stuff :( I have asked a few friends and they said no they not had one or had there parents do one any way they just went out with their mates a few nights before.

Dd has been celebrating non-stop since getting her results, partly funded by us, and we've had a family meal together with gps.

We won't have another celebration as such, but she will be only a few hours away, so me, dh and dd2 will undoubtedly visit during the first term and take her out for a meal (which I'm sure she'll be even more glad of as she'll be self catering).
