student finance for uni - basic question!?

Hi, my dd and I have been on the directgov website tonight to start the process of applying for student finance for uni.

Got to the actual page and the options were applying:

as the student

or

the parents of a student

Hope this makes sense to someone! Which one do we use?

Grateful for advice - many thanks.

Both!

DD needs to register first with her course details, then she puts your details down, you get an email (or reference from DD) and you start the torture yourself - logging in as a parent registering support.

Does that make sense?

Thanks Milliways. Not looking forward to this process! Wish they made this more obvious on the site - how is anyone supposed to know that.

Do they take xh finances into account? Dd lives with me and I don't earn much but he earns loads.

Many thanks.

Not sure, but DD's friend got max grant etc as lives with her disabled Mum, whilst her Dad also earns proper wages so sends her money but didn't stop her getting this / EMA/ etc.

Thanks Milliways. I shall just go with it and see what happens Smile
