Just starting OU, anyone else?

Just starting Introduction to The Social Sciences, with a view to carrying on to study and Open Degree with the OU. Well not sure if I will do an Open Degree, just now sure which route I want to go just yet.

Anyway I wondered if anyone was and if we could have chat about it as I actually feel a little bit clueless at the moment. Am fairly well organised but have yet to actually put pen to paper or type anything out so to speak. I am very excited about this course but nervous too, been an awfully long time since I studied. My first assignment due on 2nd Nov. Any advice or thoughts welcome.

Oh thank you Smile. I am really interested in the Social Sciences actually but I have noticed that if you do an open degree there are loads of other different modules that you can do, in particular there is one about Autism Spectrum Disorders I would like to do as I have a child with ASD, so am thinking I will keep it Open and do the modules I want to do in that way, if that sounds feasible?

This is not really a career thing for me right now as I am my ds's carer and can't see that changing any time soon, so I am purely doing this to keep my brain active and I just really want to be educated to "degree level" iyswim?

Have you seen the student parents section shimmery, its in the "being a parent" section - there are loads of OUers in there.
