Distance Learning (home based courses)

Hi

I would love some opinions/feedback from anyone who has studied a distance learning course.
I've just enrolled on an NVQ 3 Diploma course for Teaching Support on a home based distance-learning (correspondence or email based) course, because I would like to become a Teaching Assistant in time. My youngest DD has just started full time reception and I feel that this would be a great time to get on with study (I am a parent/volunteer helper on morning a week at my local infants school) and I've been a registered childminder for the last 10 years.
I have reached the point now where I enjoy the team work of school as opposed to the isolation of childminding (even attending groups etc) and now as I've said mine are growing up. I still need to be available around school times/holidays their sickness etc which is why I opted for the flexibility of distance learning, I just wondered what experiences other MN users may have had. The idea being I can study when children are at school (on the days I'm not childminding).
