dumb question re enrolment

At the very last minute I have decided I am going to go to college.
This is huge for me as I left school at 16 and went into full time work. I never went back to work after DD1 was born almost 12 years ago.

I have phoned the college and the course I want to do has spaces. They told me its now too late to apply and that I just need to turn up tomorrow to enrol.

However the course info on the college website says that the tutor will want to interview any applicants to see their suitablility for the course.

So please help me as I have absolutely no idea about anything collegey. When I go tomorrow will the tutor be there? Will I be interviewed? What does a college interview entail and what the hell do I wear? Also, I am assuming I need to take some documentation with me to proove I am who I say I am - but what?

Any help or advice please, am suddenly quaking in my boots.

They may interview same day or give appointments - really depends on demand and availability. Wear smart casual and be prepared to show evidence of why you are suitable and eligible for the course. You may be able to download the application form via the college website and see what else you may need but take along some form of id (ie Birth cert, driving licence including paper part, proof of address such as a recent bill) and if there is a fee for the course anything to substantiate entitlement to a concession ie. IS or Benefit letter if you need to claim it. Good luck

When DD3 went to her enrollment day last week. She was asked to bring National insurance cCard,Passport or Birth certificate. She also had to take £15 enrollment fee. That is all she has to pay for the course.

you're not too late. I spent 3 hours enrolling students today and that was day 1. enrollment goes on at our college for the next 2 weeks.

Go onto the website print off the application form and then go down there, you will probably have a mini interview. don't over dress - casual is fine. You might have to sit a quick scan (10 minute job on the computer) which ascertains your learning style. (visual auditory kinaesthetic or multi-sensory) don't panic it is not a test there is no pass fail to it at all

take ID and any certificates of any public exams you have taken ( O levels gcse btech etc)

be ready to explain why you want to do the course and what your motivation is

Good luck - go for it

ps if its anything like our college be prepared for a long wait. Some students were there for 5 hours today.

Thank you!
Am just gathering together all my documents etc.

Our printer is kput (thanks to DC) so I cannot just print off the application - shame I would have preferred to have filled it in prior to leaving.

Roll on midday!!!
