Hi Everyone, I currently have the chicco polly in seventy for my DD and its been really good but I am beginning to get sick of not being able to clean it properly, its very chunky and when Ive lifted the arms up on it to put her at the table she screams. It was good for a long time as we used to put her to sleep in it during the day which has helped me get her in to a routine so do not regret getting it. Its just so dirty and hard to clean all the time as she feeds herself and enjoys spilling!! I am looking at buying a tripp trapp or something similar but am not sure what else I would need to buy at her age apart from the chair? Do I need the babyset and the harness? Is it necessary to have the cushion? Please help before I waste anymore money!

Hello Chezbo. Tripp Trapps are a great design. If I were you, I would get the babyset to keep her in, as 16 months is probably a bit small for climbing up and down on her own, though maybe she won't be using it for long. I didn't bother with a harness for my DD as she wasn't a "climber" and never tried to climb out, but you'll know if your baby is safer strapped in. And finally, no you don't need a cushion- they are a rubbish design and filthy straight away. HTH.

Can I just add - I'm buying a Tripp Trapp (backinaction.com is selling now with the babyseat conversion chucked in free for 129 pounds -- worth it when you consider they go for up to 90-100 pounds on ebay) for my 19/20 month old and will get the babyset but I don't need the cushions, right? She's BLW and a chucker of liquids so I don't see the point unless anyone thinks necessary.

Both DD's had a Trip Trap with the babyset from about 6 months. DD1's is still going strong at 7yrs. I never bothered with the cushions though - you'd be constantly washing them!

DD3 has a Tripp Trapp that we bought for DD2 when she was about 3 (she was a total fidget and it helped to have the footrest) - we bought the £10 Ikea highchair for DD3 to start with (DD2 was still using TT, and cheaper than a babyset!) then when she was able to sit up and stay put we put her on the Tripp Trapp. She is a mountain goat, so has been using the Tripp Trapp with no straps/baby set since 18 months, though wouldn't have done that with DD2. No cushions - my big highchair advice to anyone is don't buy one with cushions, plastic or otherwise!
