handysitt doesn't fit :((( what else?

I have just had the handysitt delivered. I was so excited about it, loved the look of it and read great reviews. But it doesn't fit on our dining chairs as the backs are 50cm I haven't done my research well this time.
I hate our high chair - it was a gift - it's bulky, plastic and looks awful. Our living room is small so I'm really trying to decluter as much as possible.

Can you recommend my a nice booster seat for my DS who is 9 months old? or an adjustable nice high chair that would fit under the table so that he can sit with us?

Get a smaller chair from IKEA for your handysitt? I love mine

yes, I thought about it as I love it too, but that would do nothing to my decluttering, would it? ;)

get a tripp trapp? or the babydan one is ok too, we had one of those for ds2.

atm we are using the phil and teds one that hangs on the table for ds3 me too chair which works well

what about a chair that clips on to the table?
We had a chicco one for DD and have just got a phil and teds me too for DS as the chicco one didn't fit on our breakfast bar.

lots of folk ike the ikea antilop chair, but again that's an extra chair. As are the babydan/tripptrapp style ones. I think the nastier-looking plastic booster seats are probably just as effective though.

I like the tripp trapp and the antilop doesn't look bad, but again - that's an extra chair in the room. I'm now tempted to keep the handysitt to use it by the breakfast bar in the kitchen and buy something inexpensive that would fit our chairs and the table in the living room.
has anyone got experience with go anywhere booster ? and do you know why it's only suitable from 12 months plus?

duende, maybe it's because it isn't very structured? they're only held in by the fabric strap bit?? don't know really just guessing

you could do worse than a bog standard booster off ebay though... something like one?

if you don't use the handysitt can you not return it for a refund?

Bessie, you'd be better off just buying a new one so that you can return if not suitable, or get a second hand one off ebay...

oh, good news ladies! my DP has put his thinking hat on and has managed to modify the handysitt so that we can use it! I have just removed the plastic beast from the living room and it seems like we have half the room back

I was going to suggest that you put something on the chair seat to raise the seat level, but I see your DH has already done something. Our chairs have high backs and when a friend brought one with her on a visit we put a folded towel underneath it.

Bessie, DS seems to love it he looks really pleased with himself when sitting in it and my room's become bigger. I bought it from kiddicare, it was delivered next working day for free. the seat plus a basic cushion were just under £70. You can get them a bit cheaper on ebay sometimes - if you have more patience than me ;)

Bran, I tried putting cushions underneath at first but that meant that DS's legs where too high up to fit under the table. Anyway, DP has moved some screws up and it works fine now.

I bought one of these & sent it back coz it wouldn't fit on my chair, just wondered how you'd adjusted it to fit your chair?? I loved the look of it & would love to use it if I could adjust it for my chairs, tx!!
