In particular - has anyone had any difficulty clamping it to a table if it isn't flat for a long stretch on the underside? Our dining table has a kind of ridge so the clamp would only have about 4 - 5cm to clamp onto on the underneath. Would this be enough for the chair to be safe?

No I don't think that would be safe, especially of you'll be using it all the time, as it could work loose. We have one and it's great for going out with but you do have to scour the restaurant for a flat bottomed table!

Thanks - such a good chair but we can't replace our dining table to accommodate it!
