Highchair or seat for 7-week-old at worktop height

Hello

FTM to a 7 week old :) I am looking for some kind of high chair that can be used from now so I can have him at my height while preparing food, working (my work involves standing at a work bench) etc

I currently put him in the carrier (but not always practical) or the bouncer (feels disconnected when he is down on the floor and not enough room on tops)

Is there such a thing?

Bonus points if it can adapt/grow with him
Extra bonus points if under £150 (although neither of these stipulations are deal breakers 😁)

Thank you x

That Kaos Klapp link is just for the baby seat - you’d still need to buy the high chair as well (another £190!)

Another recommendation for the Tripp Trapp plus newborn set. They’re often on FB Marketplace but they do hold their value if you purchase new. JL have both for £270 currently.

Edited

Thank you, have found the set on offer on the JL website :)

Can you not just pop him in his pram? Or is there not enough space for that?

I got a bloom fresco highchair second hand for about £150 for all the reasons you state. It has been absolutely great so far, the newborn insert was used everyday and I loved including him at mealtimes. We are now in the next insert, so he sits upright with us, and it keeps growing with him! Also I loved that it was gold 😁

Something like this

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 12/03/2026 20:43

Trip trap stoke has this and it’ll turn into a big high chair later

Tutti Bambini do one. Work top height for new born. High chair too. Rocking cradle at floor level for new born and, eventually, rocking chair for toddler. See all 11 modes. £240 though. It’s solid and sturdy.

budget option

The tripp trapp is amazing. Mine is on its 8th baby (not by me!). It has had a lick of paint, but they're indestructible. A lot of my friends are using ones that were bought second hand when THEY were babies. It's what nursery use too.

Yes this is what I had too. My DD had a jelly moulded seat from six months which we put on the table whilst feeding her in the very early days . Maybe they're not a thing anymore? and then the stokke from 8 months. She actually sat in it and we adjusted seat height and feet ledges until she was 4 so she was always comfortable at the table x

edited to say - sorry misread your post @newmumjc and thought you were looking for when your baby was older!

It comes with more extras now so it can go from birth. There's a newborn reclined seat and a weaning support. You do have to check with 2nd hand ones because they change the design about one ever 20 years and there are some very old ones kicking around!

I actually did have quite an old Tripp Trapp for baby #1 and still managed to use the newborn set on it. You need to put the little slidey feet on the bottom for safety reasons to make sure it can't tip over, and as I recall that was the bit that didn't quite fit as they wouldn't stay on. But I modified it with some velcro strips and it was just fine.
