I'm gonna boost this as I came on to ask the exact same question! I was going to buy one of the seats that clip onto the actual worktop, but I'm terrified it'll fall off!!

We used clip on ones - they were excellent. Can't remember the name, but it was made by the Phil & Ted's people.

I had a Mamas and Papas Loop for our breakfast bar. I hated it, difficult to clean, enormous to use. The hydraulic mechanism seized too, which meant we couldn’t adjust it down again and use it as an ordinary chair for DS later. Because it was so expensive, I had to use it all over again for dd too. Until i’d had enough. By the time she was about a year old, she was tall enough to be able to sit by the breakfast bar in an ordinary Ikea antilop and join in quite happily.

If I had my time again i’d get one of those Phil and Ted clip on seats.

You can get seats that strap to.existing chairs, might that be a possibility?

DoubleHelix79 · 03/04/2018 19:09

Maybe get one of those booster seats that can be put on top of a normal chair and use them with a bar stool? Not really an option for a very young baby though.

We had a seat that fastened to teh table/breakfast bar and loved it, small and easy to take with us as well

I've ordered a clip on one. Spoken to a friend who has one and says they're fab.

I have exactly this issue too. Interested to know if there’s another high chair option as I don’t want clip on as don’t think they will work in the space.

So I bought a bloom one off eBay for about £50. It’s a nice height and looks modern is all I can really say positively about it. Oh and thank goodness I didn’t fork out the full price. We hate it! Where to start.... it’s massive and heavy to move around, it really doesn’t look comfy at all, we’re currently using it in the newborn position and we’re having to pad it out with blankets even with an insert - we didn’t get the bloom one, it may be better with that. It is good to all be able to sit around at the island but there is no way I’ll be weaning in it, it’s clearly impossible to clean. The seat liners are wipe over only and there’s so many crevices for food to get into. Nightmare. I’m probably a bit biased - we used the Ikea one for my eldest (which I’ll be getting out the loft) and we just used to shove the whole thing in the dishwasher....Smile

A boost to this as could do with getting any more recommendations!
