Can you paint a Tripp trapp chair?

Hi all, I just wondered if anyone has tried and succeeded in painting a Tripp Trapp chair? We have a natural coloured one for my son and instead of getting another to match we have inherited a cherry coloured cast off from our in laws. It really doesn't go and so I'm contemplating painting it. Has anybody out there tried? Does it look ok? Any problems?
