Bumbo tray - the affixing of

Is there a knack to getting the bumbo tray clipped onto the seat? Try as I might, I can't get the little clippy bit at the bottom of the tray piece to go under the bumbo - it just pokes into the seat, iyswim. I can do it with no baby in the seat, by turning it upside down, but this is clearly not an option when actually in use!
Am I just being useless, or does anybody have a method for doing this?

Glad to hear I'm not the only one defeated by plastic!

i just used to either do it with baby not in it and then slide baby in or tip it slightly once baby was in it and clip it under, it helps to get hold of the rim of the bumbo (the bottom rim that you are clipping it onto) and sort of squeeze it a bit as you clip it on. it is a bit faffy tbh, hence why i was quite pleased when i realised i could just slide dd into it with the tray attached! but i think that depends on the size of your baby, some chunky babies that wouldnt work for?

I have to really carefully tip it up slightly but I tend to pop the tray on first then put baby in.

4madboys · 12/01/2012 20:37

well then you just have to tip it up very slightly and squeeze the foam rim and attach it that way, its fiddly but can be done :)

Same as 4madboys :)

Deffo couldn't fit the little chubbster in with the tray on - will try the careful tipping/squeezing method on the morrow!

Aha! Finally, we have baby in bumbo and tray on bumbo. Thanks, ladies.

It really is a PITA isn't it!

We mostly used ours on the dining table - now before you send the bad parent catchers, he sat in the middle like a centrepiece far from the edge, and was supervised at all times - so I would put him in, slide to the edge of the table, where I could get a grip and lift the edge. I think there needs to be a little notch at the front, to make this easier. But he always strained to get out after about 10 mins, anyway. Now he sits in his Tripp trapp and is happy to play or eat for ages.
