Any good? :)

I have a 13week old DD who is really trying to sit up but doesn't have the balance. Was thinking of getting one to help her, what d'you reckon?

IME, if they can't already sit then Bumbo/Bebepod's don't work. They still fall over sat in the seat and end up hung over the side looking very uncomfortable.

I have a pic of DS looking all wonky in a Bebepod because I put him in before he was sitting. I'll see if I can find it....

DS adored his, he was the same as your DD. He had a bumbo...

maybe Blatherskite... the bebepod's aren't as good as the original Bumbo

IME Dd who couldnt sit up on her own but had some back strength coped fine, she is still using her Bumbo now, at 8 months. Best thing i ever bought due to her learning to sit quite late but wanted to play toys with her older brother :)

DD2 loved hers and I wished I'd got one for DD1.

If they can hold their head up they should be fine, but like everything else, they don;t suit all children. Any chance you can borrow one first, or maybe try her in one in the shop before you buy.

I'm not keen on them, I think they curve the spine in an unnatural way. But JMO. What about one of those widgey cushions?

Blatherskite · 16/06/2011 21:57

I don't think so theanimals, they have proper bumbo's at toddler group and friends baby does exactly the same thing.

PukeyRag · 17/06/2011 16:38

Actually they have them in the health clinic so I might go and get her weighed/try her out in one :)

My ds3 was a late sitter - 9m, but was quite happy in his bumbo from 5m to when I just put it away recently - did have good head control. My forst two who could sit earlier at about 6m were also fine in it.

We used a bumbo a lot with DD1. Now with DD2 I'm not using it so much as she's high on the centile charts and at 6 months can almost flip herself out of it, so I only use it if I'm sitting with her the whole time. DD1 was a lot smaller so she couldn't get out of it and it seemed safer.
