MIL visiting from abroad

I am expecting my first child around 30th April. My MIL wants to come to help and stay for 2 weeks mid May. she wants to bring her husband and cousin. I have tried to explain that I do not want visitors so early and want to learn my routine first. She seems to take it as a offence. I have offered them to come end of May for few days but it is not enough

Would they stay with you ro can you persuade them to make more of a holiday of it than visit? Will your dh take time off ? She may mean to be helpful but having a houseful of relative strangers can be a stress especially as you are unlikely to feel at your best. Don't rely on having a routine by end of May either tbh, a new baby is a real learning curve for you and the needs of newborns are very variable on a daily basis .

compile a HUGE (and I mean HUGE) list of tasks and jobs for her to do and email it to her saying "oh, looking forward to you coming; I've been thinking of things I could ask you to do when you're here... here's what I've just come up with - I'm sure I'll think of more."

that'll put her off. If not, then at least you'll finally get somebody to do that grouting

Do you plan on breastfeeding your baby?

It's none of my business, but I'm just wondering because it takes up a LOT of time.

My PFB is 6 weeks old and I'm breastfeeding him. At this early stage babies feed very frequently - around every 2 hours, and each feed can last around 30 mins, or even longer. It is a beautiful thing, but I'm 100% sure it's not something I'd want my MIL being a part of.

Just think of all these mundane things you'll be doing, and consider how she'll fit in with your life in the early days.

I feel your pain!
