Grandma/Nana wanted

I contacted Age Concern asking them if they could help with us adopting a grandma for my kids and a mum for me. They thanked me for a lovely email but they can't help.

Anyone want to be Granny to my kids and mum to me?

We are in Kent btw.

I think it's a lovely idea and I'm sure there would be lots of interest. Next time my Mum starts being a cow, I will tell her to behave herself or we'll replace her with one we like better! :)

In all seriousness though, surely there would need to be some background checking carried out. I would feel wary about allowing a stranger into our family and home without something like a basic background check. I know I sound very cynical but how do you know they are genuine? There are some dodgy opportunists out there, age immaterial!

Just saw this thread and thought what a good idea! My parents are now dead, as are my sister and brother and I would love to have more people in the DCs lives and for them to be in another person's life.

We are in East Sussex if anyone is interested. Smile

One place I worked had a 'adopt an Irish pensioner' scheme. I think it was through a local pensioners club. We went down a few times as we were sponsoring the club and it was great fun.
