Our granddaughter is 5 and a half she has been living with us for 4 years and we have a special guardianship order for her ,She sees her mother on a supervised visit for 3 hours every two months ,the father has not been seen or heard from since the court awarded us the special guardianship .my question is could we go ahead and with mums agreement change little ones surname to ours ( and mums) without dredging up the deadbeat father who's surname she presently has
