MA English/ Linguistics without BA English

I need to study English to further my career. For a number of reasons, I can only do distance learning. And OU is not accepted where I live (I have queried this but not heard back yet).

The only BA I can find is from University of London (Goldsmiths). It doesn’t really appeal, it seems very literature based. BA linguistics/language studies would be perfect, but I can’t find any online courses (if anyone knows of any, I’d be eternally grateful!).

I made a thread a few days ago and someone suggested a masters instead . So I‘ve been looking into this and found a few that look great- MA Applied Linguistics (with or without TEFOL) for example. I‘d definitely find these more interesting and relevant to my career.

I have done a Bachelors before (psychology) but it was quite a while ago. I‘d love to hear some opinions/experiences- is it doable to study English at master level without the base of a bachelor? I have two primary school DC and work part time, and am also worried about the workload with a masters vs bachelors.

I think there is a lot of flexibility for mature students. can't speak specifically for English but I recently completed an MA in Psychotherapy and I didn't even have A Levels. I had to attend an interview and submit an essay on the subject. I'm proud to say I graduated with distinction.

It was a LOT of work and reading and a very steep learning curve. It was probably the equivalent of 2 working days a week studying. I wasn't working and my kids were young adults so I had the time. I am in awe of younger members of my class who combined their studies with jobs and parenting.
