Am I wrong

Hello all,
Needing some advice or opinions.
i have been with my boyfriend for a long time, we do not live together due to both having children of our own.
we have a grandchild (technically his), and lately we have been asked to have said grandchild every weekend all weekend from Friday to Sunday, baring in mind we only see each other on weekends.
i have said this isn’t fair as we need time together as a couple and 1 maybe 2 weekends a month is enough, we are asked because the grandchild’s parents work a few hours one day of the weekend.
we both work full time jobs and it just feels like we have no wind down time or time together.
Am I wrong in not wanting to look after grandchild every weekend?

What does BF say?

HappyHappy89 · 06/12/2024 15:47

He says he doesn’t want his child to worrry about childcare and it just is what it is at the moment

He says "at the moment" - is there an end-point in sight or is it likely to be indefinite?

HappyHappy89 · 06/12/2024 19:45

Seems like no end in sight, I mean what happens when more grandkids come along?
where’s our time together?
am I being selfish?

I certainly wouldn't say you are wrong or selfish. These are your preferences.
I don't know how other MNers would feel, but I wouldn't like the arrangement either.
BUT your BF does like the arrangement. That's a problem, and you might want to have another talk with him about it.

I wouldn't frame it as fair or not fair, but as how it makes you feel about his commitment to you and about the effect it's having on your bond.

Is everything else in the relationship going well?
