I'll be one (well a step gran ) some time between March and May (she's having twin boys!) so I may have to become ShinyHappyGranny (at the ripe old age of 36 as I'll be then ) Am v. excited about the twins!!

I have a friend who is becoming a gran for the first time and her daughter is having twins at the age of 35. You will only be one year older that the mum. My friend is very excited as well as are the rest of the family.

No grans seem to be posting at all these days. Don't tell me I'll have to resort to Saga Zone

I'll get my mum to join when she gets back from her latest holiday somewhere at the otherside of the world! She'd love gransnet!

I come to gransnet once a week but there is usually no one posting. I just plunge into the chat and other active conversations. I found the one about births in the olden days (1950s to 1970s!) fascinating and added my 2d worth to the discussion.

Where will I find threads that will interest me?

Just click on any of the subject headings e.g. health, education and a list of threads will come up, click on any that interest you. I like to click on Active Conversations (Way up near the top of the page)and just see what everyone else is chattering about.

I've just found out that I'm going to be a great auntie! Not quite a gran, but I'm old enough... though my boys aren't yet!

There are loads of over 40s on mn. You can usually find something interesting in 'active conversations' or maybe go into 'search for messages' and type a few key words that interest you.

I am in Dundee. Where can I find the thread about births in the olden days? It takes me back to going to museums with my kids and seeing things we had in our house in the olden days.

Found the thread. Some really horrible stories there. Thank goodness I was not born 20 years earlier.

I've got a lovely gran I'VE registered on Mumsnet. She's brill brill brill. I'm trying to get her to log on. Her name's supernan!! Keep an eye out for her. I've sent her an email. She's v funny. And she LOVES her grandchildren

Hi, I'm still around too... tho living in Australia means I'm not around at the same time as everyone else!!!! I had my 2 dd and 1year old dgs staying here in Oz in January and I am still missing them so much. We had such a wonderful time on the beach here on the Surfcoast and staying with my cousin who lives on a winery with roos hopping about the place. Anyway I have wonderful memories to keep me going until I see my 3 bubs again towards the end of the year.

Hi Aussiegrandma, I'm probably nearer your age and my grandchildren live in Germany. It must be hard for you when your dgcs live so far away. I was in Oz in 2002 in WA and loved it there. We also saw the roos hopping around and visited wineries. I had the job of feeding the chooks every day. I really missed them when I came home.
