Wet Rooms for elderly parents

We are thinking of getting a wet room put in for my dad who is in his 80s and has mobility problems. We are thinking taking away the bath and putting in a walk in wet room shower with a seat. Does anyone regret getting one installed? Are the walk in tubs (very Victorian bathing in the castle bathroom like) any use? Would be grateful for any comments. Thanks.

My parents have had the bathroom turned into a wet room and they are very happy with it. Bath out and replaced with a level access walk in shower, originally used the fold up seat but now use a shower chair as their needs have changed. Grab rails in the right places and really nice non-slip flooring. They are happy they made the change.

Thank you Penfold, that is great to know! I think the thought of the upheaval is putting my dad off but I am sure it will be worth it.
