My son-in-law has suggested to my DD and 10 yr old DG that they come and stay the night with us because he wants to have his mates round for "cards" and it may involve some illicit smoking. WhIlst I am happy to have the girls and it would obviously be better for them to be here than in their own home that night, I can't help feeling my DD should have stood up to him and said no - we are not going to be turned out of our own home just to suit one or more of your mates. Despite 12 years of marriage he carries on the same as when he was single, i.e. going out when he wants to, not always telling her where etc. He is just so controlling of them it makes my blood boil! Is it me or what do others think?

Does she get child-free time with her friends too?
