WIAT/Achievement testing

Has anyone had their child assessed with the WIAt or the WJ-III? I know these are generally US based tests but there are a few places in the UK that use British norms on the WIAT.
Did you find the testing helpful? If you have had your child tested using achievement testing, where did you go and would you recommend it.
many thanks.

dd2 was assessed using WIAT-II. i think most private ed psychs use this in the uk?

i would only consider formal assessment for proving learning disabilities in support of statementing for sen tbh. i know it's frequently used in this way for tribunal cases against the LEA.

(we were slightly different in that we needed the proof that dd2 does not have learning disabilities for immigration purposes - we needed it as dd2 has a physical disability that can go hand in hand with lds)

it was helpful for us as it obviously proved that she doesn't have any lds but i suspect that's not what you're asking. she came out with an iq of 142 and between 4 and 7 years ahead of her peers (in the VS range) but it hasn't meant a great deal in terms of her education. but then, that wasn't the point of testing in our case.

what are you hoping to use the testing for?
