any experience of WRIT tests?

DS1's school have suggested that they will assess him with a WRIT test administered by their SN co-ordinator.

I've done a bit of googling and found out about the basics but I was wondering if anyone here had any experience of this and any tips for us?

He is in Y3 and on G and T register for english, maths and science but it the maths that is the tricky one as far as teaching within the classroom.

Info on the WRIT is available here. I wouldn't accept the WRIT results if they aren't in your favour.

The SEN coordinator is not necessarily the right person to be administering it anyway. In the UK, SEN indicates only physical disability or slow learning. It does not mean special educational needs!

Each school should have a G&T coordinator or Leading Teacher. Your school should either have one or be sharing one with another local school. I would ask why some questions on their G&T:
What's your policy? May I have a printed copy.
How do you identify?
Can we see a copy of DS's education record?
Does the school or the G&T coordination have any ideological objections to giving brightest kids special attention?
There are books, training materials and teacher resources on the teaching of gifted children. Which ones does the school use?
