Wondered if anyone had experence of having a child at a secondary school and child has shown particular talent in one or more subjects. DS is in first year and is already way ahead of his class in one subject.

Thinking ahead to choosing his standard grades, I am wondering if the school would support him studying for this one at home rather than sitting bored in class for two years. ATM he is already sitting himself pissing about with a dsign programme while the rest of the class work through the course work. He likes it just now as he is exploring all the new design packages on the computer but I can't see this amusing him for a further 3 years.

I wondered if perhaps he could get on with the Standard Grade work just now and do the exam early freeing him up in 3rd and 4th year to do other subjects he really wants to do as well but which would class with this subject if he did it then. He is doing wel in other subjects but not racing ahead as he is with this one.
