A little sentence saying she is on the Gifted and Talented register for her art...after dying of pride i realised, i have NO IDEA what this means, if anything! Anyone able to enlighten me?

Btw if i sound like i'm bragging - that's cos i am Bless 'er she struggles with a lot of things at school and she deserves a bit of praise.

It means that she is in the top 5% (I think, maybe 10%) of her school year, at her school, for that subject.

well done to your DD

Brag away

And well done to her on her Art work

Aw fantastic! What a lovely surprise and a boost to her confidence (if she needs it)
In dd's school, nothing much happens if you're on the register, it is just a way of them keeping aware of these children's extra needs and giving them appropriate support.
Some schhols I think make a lot more of it, with extra classes etc.

Well done

On DD's report today I found a rather worrying comment

"DD is very talented but shows little enthusiasm for the subject. She does not concentrate and causes those around her to lose concentration"

This is music. She is clearly being disruptive. She is only being disruptive in this one subject. What should I do?

GodzillasBumcheek · 30/06/2008 22:15

Thanks I think the only extra needs DD has is more paper, lol.

I am a bit sorry for her (twin) sister though - no mention of the same, so it felt a bit uncomfortable!

Music often puts kids in situations different to other lessons - maybe she's nervouse if teacher has asked her to sing or play. Maybe its cos she does groups work.....

Chat with her music teacher perhaps. Chnaces are she could enjoy music lessons more if more engaged.

Don't worry about it but maybe chat with teacher
