My DS (7) loved reading beast quest books - easily read one in an hour...he is bi-lingual and can read the books in French too...never taught him any French grammar or anything like that, just spoken French as his dad is French so they only speak French - does this suggest gifted? Or he just understands the formulae of the books and with his spoken French it's allows him to understand enough to 'read'? Not sure if we should be doing anything to support. He is diagnosed ASD if that makes a difference. Thanks

If he's fluent in french then I wouldn't say it's surprising that he enjoys french books too. Good that he's reading and enjoying it whatever the language though!

That by itself wouldn't suggest he's gifted. Maybe a very able reader though. Is there anything else that suggests giftedness to you?

Nothing that I would consider anything more than just a bright boy...was just surprised he went from reading nothing in French to 100 page books with no input from anyone. But he is a very capable reader and speller so that prob explains it. Thanks for your input.
