My dd 7 yr is on the G&T register at school - they dont do anything though apart from use all her art work for dispay on the walls and I was wondering what if any ideas/similar experiences are there out there - I take her to the odd art gallery with her watercolour pencil set and shes happy but unfortunately the only art classes in my area are for kids age 11 plus I would dearly love her to go to a regukar art & craft after school club where she can develop her talent and try different mediums (acrylics pottery etc) - Any ideas would be welcome

If she's on G&T register then the school has to show how they are stretching her. Do you know who the art co-ordinator is? Art galleries are good for activities - keep checking the ones in your area.

Do you think she is as good as an 11-yr-old? If so, why not approach the teacher of one of the classes for older children and ask if they will take her on despite her age?

can you get her an art tutor? could you stick up signs at the local art college (a friendly student might be just what you need)

this is a good book drawing with children

have linked to us site as it has reviews, its avalible locally

Where do you live? Only ask because I know a fab art teacher in Sussex who runs holiday art schools for children - 3 hours a day for 3 mornings, and also Saturday schools. Ds does not have a particular art talent but enjoys it and he produces amazing stuff when there. I have seen some of the things her older (age 10) pupils with talent do, and I am always totally gobsmacked.
If you are not near there, I could always ask for recommendations.
