Ds in Y9 got his scores for the second stage of the ukmt maths challenge today.
He got 79 which was 20 points higher than the next nearest in his class - he's v pleased, had thought it went well.

Can anyone tell me more about it? School haven't said anything and I'm curious to know if there's another stage and how his score is overall.

That will be the Kangaroo that he did. Well done to your ds. That's a great score.

The intermediate maths challenge leads either to the Kangaroo, or for those who score higher on the challeng, one of the olympiads. For Year 9 that is the Cayley. There isn't a further round for either, but those who do extremely well in olympiads may be selected for summer school at the end of Year 10 and those that go further then, it can eventually lead to representing the UK internationally.

The time is not right as the IMOK took two weeks ago.

It does seem to have been marked very quickly this year. Olympiads will take somewhat longer though.

It was only a couple/few weeks ago that he sat the paper- I was surprised that he had a score already
