Hi all
I was just sharing my growing concern about my two children
DD and DS (for reference) DS has always been the oldest however has always struggled in academia however is incredibly talented in other areas. However DD is incredibly bright and smart and is incredibly academic and is in gifted and talented. However is now showing proficiency in the same other areas as DS. (Notably dance) I am just worried that DS will see this as DD encroaching on them and will start a sibling rivalry. I had a very similar situation with my sister where I was seen as the less academic child and I am just wondering if I am projecting my emotions onto him or if he's just doing the same thing I did which is to be the "team player" for their parents. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I really don't want to do anything that will start a sibling rivalry.

You can't stop DD getting interested in something because it's her brothers 'thing'. Chances are it will only be a hobby for him and he will meet plenty of others who are better than he is. It's just life. Stopping your daughter is just going to cause resentment.

I think you are overthinking it - just let them both do it. It may bring them closer together.

Don't over think it. Surely neither are doing either for the forseeable anyway?
