Hi,
I posted this already in Scotsnet but not much response. I thought I might find a few parents here who could help.

I would love to get in touch with parents who have their children in the Music Section of Douglas Academy. We are considering applying for our eldest who is going into P6 after the holidays.

I have contacted the school but not had anything back yet as its the holidays. I had friends go there 25 years ago but I suspect a lot has changed!

I want to know everything from levels at times of audition, lesson times per week, and happiness of the children. Anything else you can think of too.
Thanks.

Hi,

Just spotted your thread and went to pm you. However I can't see how to from my tablet. If you would like to pm me I can reply though.

One of my DC was at the music school in Douglas from 2008 -2014. The other switched from our local state school to the music school in S6. They both loved it.

The head specialises in choral singing. He leads one of the National Youth Choirs. Stirling I think......

You probably already know that the alternatives would be Junior RCS or St Mary's in Edinburgh. DS did a couple of years of juniors, which was also great. He was a comparatively late starter. Like a few of the others at Douglas he did both juniors and music school at one point.

My two played piano/violin and double bass/piano.

Hi rogueantimatter thank you for responding. I'm sorry I didn't see this earlier. I'm not sure how I missed it. I'm going to try and send you a PM - I hope you don't mind!
