Single parent and competitive 4+ assessments

Please could anyone offer advice. DC will be doing competitive 4+ assessments in Jan. I am a single mum. DC is starting to go to ex with view to going overnight. I am worried that DC will not be able to cope with staying away from me such that she will not be able to 'prepare' or perform well on the day. Ex is very uninterested. I am worried that DCs chances will not be the best. Any experience or advice please?

If your dc is gifted then a 4+ assessment shouldn't be a concern, or indeed require preparation. And whatever the ability shouldn't interfere with normal family life and relationships.

January is still 10months away so even if she is spending nights every week there- by the time January comes around she will be used to it. If you are concerned about how she will cope just take your time about stretching visits out.

DC may not go overnight until nearer the time you see. I just don't know how ex will respond if I ask to hold off overnights (prob not well). I don't want him to take me to court.
