Recommendations for EdPysch for 2E?

My DS (8) has been assessed as in top 99.7 % on verbal and non-verbal intelligence scores but on 16 percentile for processing speed. I need to get him the right help (and right diagnosis if appropriate).

Can anyone make any recommendations? We are in the South East but will travel and will fund if necessary.

Also, does anyone else have a kid with a profile like this? What were the steps that you took and do you have any advice?

Yes got an 11 year DD like this. We had assessment at the dyslexia research trust. School put in support methods dramatic improvements in 1 year. Yes she is dyslexic her main problem is visual processing.

Thank you Lonecat. The Ed Psych said his processing speed was that of someone who is severely (?) dyslexic but the other figures mean he is not... Confused!

Ummm high ability with low processing is classic dyslexic profile I have it, my sister has it, my niece, my nephew and my own daughter. The fact that dyslexics have very high potential is very normally. I have to say I would not be hugely impressed with an edpsch who didn't appreciate this. Is it by any chance an LEA one, as a family we have found these very flaky and unhelpful.

My daughter has top one percent CAT scored for Maths, English and VR, NVR is top 3%. Her problem is visual processing which her ability is 3 years behind her actual age and 8 years behind auditory processing.

Thank you - it was someone that we found privately. I may have misinterpreted was he said (waiting for the report to come through). He said he had a reading age 5 year above his real age and his spelling was exceptional, but I do understand that dyslexia doesn't always mean reading problems despite its name.

That's a great tip about the Dyslexia Research Trust and I'm putting in for an assessment there.
