Controversial move on my part, as the new school isn't as highly rated by OFSTED but has many other qualities. They have a class of 28. 1 teacher, 1 TA and 1 trainee TA - 3 adults for 28 kids. Other school was huge, 60 kids, 2 teachers 1 TA. DD was slipping through the net there. Lots of problems with teachers, admin staff and headmaster.

Told the teacher what band reading she was on at old school (the Geni Lighthouse books) - yellow. Bottom rung of Y1 reading. Said I felt it was a bit low. On her first day they did a reading assessment and put her on turquoise, which is mid-Y2 band. A jump of FOUR reading levels.

Has anyone else had to move their child schools and when? And does anyone know where I can buy/borrow these books from?

I'm a bit confused, although I can easily believe the lesser Ofsted-rating school is better. It was disaster when my parents moved me from school in deprived area (where I thrived) to one in DesRes neighbourhood with special programmes for gifted (where I was badly bullied & miserable).

Books from library, no? You'll have to eyeball guess the reading level, but anything that keeps love of reading alive is good.
