2 year old writing her own name.

I'm a teacher and feel I should be able to spot signs but I am simply amazed by my dd today.
We were writing her aunt a birthday card. This usual means I do the writing and she does a scribble in crayon.
Today, however, she wrote her name. Granted, it is only 5 letters but it was legible.
She does things like finds the words Peppa Pig on the sky planner.
I'm not going to push her at all just now. I'll let her take the lead and help her figure things out.
I do worry that when she gets into the education system they are going to roll their eyes at me, saying she is quite bright.
But I think that is clever at 27 months I obviously think she is the prettiest little girl ever to grace the earth too!

That's good - DD was writing her name at 29/30 months, but it's two letters fewer than your DD :)

Two years later, her name is still pretty much the only thing she will write because she doesn't seem to see the point in writing anything else, just to warn you!

yep. they will. yuo also may have to beoneof those parents... but hey, forrget it for now and enjoy dd and herr achievements.

ps be prepared for some people thinking that you lock her in her room until she has mastered a skill.

DD could write her name at 2 and recognise it. Nothing progressed till she went to school. Then she sort of learnt steadily till year 3. Then there was a huge exponential development.
My point it's fits and starts at this age with learning. Between 2 and going to school I think she was busy learning to get dressed, put her coat and shoes on, wipe her own bottom, sit quietly when asked to and play nicely with other children.
