and fwiw, I'm happy and my kids are happy. so why not wind your fishy neck in a little? not really sure if my kids would fall into the catagory anyway. I do know quite a bit about teaching these kids.

When people posted anout g and t on education people took the piss. When they posted on Behaviour people took the piss.

Now they have their own topic. Just bloody ignore it if you are not interested

FrannyandZooey · 15/05/2006 18:33

Cor blimey cod you are rude about this

roisin · 15/05/2006 18:36

Blimey Cod, what are you on tonight!?
Go and pour yourself a glass of wine and chill out a bit Grin

mykidsmum · 15/05/2006 18:46

Grin @ gifted and talented threads being elitist, and there was me thinking mn is an elitist board anyway, with all this talk of expensive clothes, make up and lifestyles that I can only dream of. If I was to ask them to be removed on the grounds of being elitist there wouldn't be much left, but thats why I like it here it gives me an insight into how others lead their lives and I am nosey. I honestly think this subject is obviously needed and although my kids are probvably average at best I'm not particularly fussed about the abilities of others.

LadyTophamHatt · 15/05/2006 18:53

our eldest Ds was described as gifted at his last parents evening. I think I've mentioned it to 1 maybe 2 people.

He is a clever boy and of course we're proud of him (and he knows that)but IMO thats all you (the outside world in general, not just MN) need to know.
Personally I would rather stick pins in my eyes that type post after post about how clever he is whilst comparing his abilities to everyone elses.

Differnet strokes for different folks I suppose.

MotherOfaPlodder · 15/05/2006 18:54

jealous?
how do oyu knwo my kdis isnt?

Blandmum · 15/05/2006 18:55

I don;t think tha most people will post for that resaon tho, do you? I rather think that mnetters are more 'polite' than that.

Isn't it more the case that people will post here asking for help with key issues if they hit a problem?

FrannyandZooey · 15/05/2006 19:05

But this is like saying that the breastfeeding threads are for boasting about how much milk you've got, or that the style threads are for showing off about how great your wardrobe is. I'm sure there will be some knobby posters in this section as elsewhere, but that doesn't mean it isn't a valid topic for discussion.

FrannyandZooey · 15/05/2006 19:05

cod I didn't say you were jealous but that it made you sound it Shock

mykidsmum · 15/05/2006 19:08

Thats the [point I was trying to make you did it more eloquebtly FAZ, bloody elitist mn people even write better than I do!

mykidsmum · 15/05/2006 19:08

Obviously eloquently, I'm not completely stupid!

zippitippitoes · 15/05/2006 19:10

on that assessment I would like to travel to go as i'm never likely to go anywhere...

but on the otherhand I find it curiously fascinating visiting the land of hopes and dreams and finding other people nice places to go

Gillian76 · 15/05/2006 19:12

Anyone for a G&T with ice and lime? :)

MotherOfaPlodder · 15/05/2006 19:12

hi GIll how was dhs shirt combo
a dnt he wedding

Gillian76 · 15/05/2006 19:15

He was hot I have to say

Wedding was a bit alternative but quite a giggle. They thought they would get married outside in Scotland in May so it involved a lot of trotting in and out with umbrellas!

MotherOfaPlodder · 15/05/2006 19:16

ah
the nobs.

am wainting till custy sees this thread

Gillian76 · 15/05/2006 19:17

Sorry but I do have to laugh at this. think I have 3 plodders too!

MotherOfaPlodder · 15/05/2006 19:19

i am not giving away details of the percentage the fish fit into
woudl be embarassed to knwo ti and certianly to braodcast it

LadyTophamHatt · 15/05/2006 19:33

d'ya know...it's the title that bugs me most of all..

Gifted and Talented screams "Look at me...Looks at my DD/DS...are'nt we clever"

Haven't got any prob with the topic itself as such, (after all I don't have to read it) but hate the topic title.

harpsichordcarrier · 15/05/2006 19:34

actually I would like a topic to boast about how much milk I've got Smile
because, goshdarnit, have i ever got a lot of milk.
not as much as hunker though
[lactation envy]

anniebear · 15/05/2006 19:39

why is it so bad?

I will never have a G & T child, but I dont think the idea of this is so you can boast about them

I can imagine parents of Gifted children would like to be able to discuss things and ask advice

If I can ask advice about my SN child and can ask about things to do with her twin Sister (NT) child then why can't Mums chat about this subject

As long as people aren't actually going to be boasting about their kids I can't see why anyone would have a go

I don't post in Maternity, or single Mums, etc because I have nothing to ask in there and have no advice to give. So why has everyone come on here and been like they have when the subject is not of interest to them

I am really not trying to cause trouble, Far too frightened for that Grin

I wouldn't normally post if something annoys me a in case I get yelled at ! then I would just cry lol

But felt I had to comment

I won't comment again, as I said this subject isn't for me, just had a quick nosey at it and am suprised at how people have been

Now I shall run off and hide in the corner and won't log on again for a while just in case

fullmoonfiend · 15/05/2006 19:40

yeah but to be fair, Gifted and Talented is the cringeworthy title which the government imposed on the scheme, not some pushy parent who decided to invent a new classiciation for her dear child after watching a couple of Baby Einstein DVDs

anniebear · 15/05/2006 19:42

Just before I hide!!

can I just say that I would totally agree with you all if other parents do come on her and boast and brag

All our children are gifted and talented in different ways,

I wouldn't want mine to be anyway, I can just about cope with Reception Homework Grin

Ooops !!

Yes I agree, but that is the goverment calling it such a silly title, not the parents who might want to (but won't dare !!!!!!) post on here

I am really going to hide now!!!!! Grin
