Year 10 taking GCSEs

I just had a letter to say ds1 is taking GCSEs in biology and chemistry this coming year. It seems all split up though? I'm surprised he's taking science over English as that's his top subject? Maybe there are more letters to come?
The letter says ds1 is following the triple award Science pathway? I haven't heard of it tbh?
Ds1 won't mind as he loves study but I thought he'd have mentioned it, surely he's already been informed?

Its to do with the change over to linear exams - the whole course is examined by exams at the end so rather than having all three sciences at the end of year 11 some schools are splitting them up like this. Not ideal if he wants to do Chemistry or Biology for A level as he will have a year of doing neither.

That's a thought you're right not ideal at all.
