Maths Mates

My ds has been nominated to go on a primary maths mates programme. Has anyone had a child go on this programme or can any teachers tell me what it entails?
Unable to talk to his teacher as not doing school run this week.
I am assuming he has been selected as he is quite an able mathematician.

Ds went along today. Was one of 4 children from his school. Seemed to enjoy it but didn't really say much. (that's 8 year old boys for you)
