I wondered if there is a general rule of how schools process time off for UK sporting events, when a pupil is participating?

Should it be taken as absence (and go against their record) or do they have to allow for this?

individual policy for each school within LEA guidelines. So you'll have to ask at your child's school, I expect.

My ds1 gets authourised time off to compete
