DD dropped naps at 17 months. She still wakes twice through the night however settles down again within 10 mins so that's not really a problem. The issue we're having is settling at bed time (7.30pm).
By this time she's usually been awake for 14 hours so ought to be tired but insists on talking and asking questions about all manner of things until she finally falls asleep at about 9pm.
We lie down together in her single bed - she was never happy in a cot -until she falls asleep. If I don't get in the bed with her she cries hysterically and makes herself sick. If I get out the bed before she's asleep she follows me about crying.
DD has a favourite toy in bed however mummy seems to be the comfort object. She was breastfed for 16 months so perhaps that's something to do with it.
She's not hyperactive and is very well behaved through the day - no tantrums as long as you explain things to her - but only appears to tire at 7.30pm.
The reason I ask here is that DD is a bright toddler, too early to tell if she would be G and T ofcourse but she's an early reader with a good understanding of numbers. For the moment she seems a long way ahead of her peers in terms of comprehension. She often 'thinks outside the box' and also shows a lot of consideration for others.
I wondered whether G and T kids tend to have more sleep issues. Has anyone had a similar experience? Can you offer advice? DS is due at the end of April so at the moment I'm thinking I'll just have to feed him in DD's bed while I'm settling her. DH cannot help due to work commitments. Any advice gratefully received.
