non-syllabus computer games?

Hi, on behalf of very bright but not particularly motivated/self-starting (OK, just plain lazy if something isn't fun) Y1 DS (who never stops asking questions I can't answer).

(Putting this here because some of you might have come across this one before)

So - do you know any computer games that are stretching but on the other hand don't surreptitiously teach the syllabus he will cover at school? The last thing he needs is to know everything they'll teach him at school. I'm keen that he learns with his peers and has to work (not coast) in school for all the standard reasons.

(We're very lucky, there are some very bright kids in his class, I think they're doing a good job with the 'isn't life interesting' and 'can you figure this problem out' type teaching so far, and it's probably a proper peer group).

Thanks!

My kids are keen on Maths Missions, but I'm not sure if you can get it in the UK now (we got the 3-5th grade one from Amazon.co.uk, though).
