Low after ovulating?

Does anyone else get this? I've stopped using contraception and have been keeping an eye on my cycle since January, and have noticed a definite dip in my mood when I ov and just after. I'd actually say I feel worse at this time of the month, than when I'm actually due on!

It's getting me down a bit now though, tonight I feel very low and anxious over nothing at all. I was wondering why, so checked my dates and sure enough, I should have ovulated on Wednesday, so my mood dip fits.

Is there anything I could take to try and stop this? Oil of Evening Primrose or something? I have just started to take St Johns Wort, but only for the last two weeks so no difference yet. I've been thinking that I'm just low again (have been on anti d's before for PND) but I'm wondering if it's all just cycle related. At the minute I feel like I only really have one good week per month - straight after I've come on, which doesn't make sense at all!

Thanks very much.

I was so heartened to read your message because I have the exact same problem. I get EXTREMELY moody, tearful and suicidal around the time I ovulate. I tried reading books about PMT, but couldn't get my head round my moods not only being pre-mentrual but also the fortnight before - so, as you say about 3 weeks of the month. I wish I could just lock myself away it's so bad but, of course, you can't do that with a family to look after.

It must be some sort of hormone imbalance, but I have yet to find a herbal remedy. I think the old favourites of good diet, sleep and exercise must help. But it's soooo difficult! I can only offer sympathy as a fellow sufferer!

I am with you! I am noticing a marked dip around ovulation and again around my period - no fun at all,and like you feel I only get one good week a month. Getting worse as I get older....was thinking it could be a slow approach to the menopause???? I have no solutions either - swimming seems to pick me up a bit, but I'd be interested in hearing if anyone else has. Good luck.

Thanks you two Obviously it's not nice, but it's good to know that there are other people the same, and it's not all in my head!

I've decided to give the St Johns Wort a go for a month or so, and I also started on EPO at the weekend so will see how I get on, but am thinking that it may be worth seeing my GP.

nellieloula, I hope it's not the menopause, I'm only 30! It's entirely possible though, isn't it?

I'll let you both know how the SJW and EPO go, thanks again.

Nice one. I think talking to the GP is the right path & to do as you've done and be very aware of your cycle. I was chatting with my friend today who gets bad PMT and she says that the EPO works for her. All the best!
