Gold overlay fell out today. What can I expect?

Hi

Bit upset as my gold overlay fell out today. Managed to get an appointment with a new dentist on Monday thank goodness. But of course I've only an initial 15 min appointment so may have to put up with the discomfort for a while longer.

Is it likely that she will be able to stick it back on relatively easily or has it fallen out for some underlying more significant problem? It's lasted about 10 years and I have been really pleased with it. See my dentist every 6 months and nothing has been mentioned about it.

Anyone with experience / knowledge?

if you are lucky they can just clean up the overlay and the tooth and put it back in. if not it will be a new filling.
I had some gold overlays done about 15 years back and sometimes they fall out because the glue stops working or so.

OMG!-gold fillings aren´t permanent?

I might have to go through it again? (sobs & decides never to eat again)

Thanks mousymouse...diddl don't worry I have two others that have lasted better and this tooth has always been trouble.

Keep your fingers crossed that it's the glue then. Thank goodness I didn't swallow it...
