Erm..Has anyone else been stiched too tight after childbirth?

Because i think i have been! Oh dear. Possible TMI by the way.

DD is 9 weeks, had an episiotomy and tear. I got my period a few weeks ago and when i tried to put a tampon in it wouldn't go in, further investigations seemed to indicate that i now have an impossible small hole. Sex would quite clearly be impossible and i just got a letter saying my smear is due.

Please tell me that everyone that gets stitches has this problem...and if not what do i do about it? Oh god, i hope they don't have to go back and fix it

Bumping for you (haven't had a vag delivery so can't be any practical help).

Sorry can't help - I kind of had the opposite problem - a few stitches burst so opening is now somewhat ahem ... larger than before.
Did your GP examine you at your 6/8 week check?
If not then I think your GP should probably be your first port of call. I suspect this is actually quite common so don't be embarrassed about it.

Yes, my best mate went to see her GP about this 12 months after her DD was born. She was referred back to the hospital for a minor op to correct the problem. She said it was no problem and she felt a lot more comfortable afterwards.

Why don't you go and see your GP and ask them to have a look?

The GP did examine me and said all was healing fine. TBH i didn't even know there was a problem then as i hadn't been down there to see

It may be that they were concerned more with the healing and actually didn't think about the size of the opening iykwim - they don't know what it looked like before.

My friend was given some dildo type things to try and stretch her! Anyway it didn't work and she ended up having a little op.

Incidentally, i do remember things being a bit uncomfy after my episiotomy. They did improve by themselves.
