Fused labia

Have name-changed to preserve my DD's modesty!

We went to the doctor's today for a check-up with my 6 month old DD. She said she has fused inner labia and prescribed some hormone cream called Ovestin to apply each day for 4 weeks. She has had no other symptoms - no infections or anything.

Has anyone else used this? I asked the doctor if there were side-effects and she said no, but I almost can't believe that seeing as it's a hormone cream.

Anyone got any experience with this? Am a bit about using it on her.

My DD had this as a baby. We used the same cream, and initially it worked, but when we stopped it fused back together. This led to bulging when she wee'd as there was only such a tiny gap. More cream, opened up, stopped cream fused again, but not as much.
We then were totally fed up and she was out of nappies by this point maaking the cream a real faf. We chose then not to treat anymore, just kept an eye on the urine issue, which incidentally has never been a problem since. Natural hormonal changes should rectify this as she hits puberty. Doc reassured us that the cream working confirmed this.
