My DH was done in a doctor's surgery by a consultant who is very experienced, I'm sure it will be the same for yours.
The chances of serious problems are miniscule, much lower than for female sterilisation.
My DH had his 11 months ago and you wouldn't know at all, nothing has changed (other than the ability to get me pregnant ). He felt totally back to normal after 4 weeks.

He will be sore and may need a few days rest, DH had a week off due to swelling and infection but we were still able to have sex as soon as his stitches came out on day 7 - your DH will be reassured by his first reflex erection after his snip , it will be painful but he will know his hydraulics are working ok.
I've never seen loss of erection as a medical side effect of vasectomy, although psyhcologically some men have issues.
