What to eat after having a sickness bug?

I ate some dodgy prawns (I think it was the prawns) last night and was very sick through the night and this morning with dodgy bowels too (sorry if tmi).

I'm now feeling ravenous but am not sure what to eat. My stomach still fells delicate, but hungry!

What's going to be best do you think?

toast and heinz tomato soup

I was thinking of toast, but not sure about tomato soup - seems a bit rich/acidy/Idon't know what really! Also not sure that it would be good on its' way back up if I am sick again!

Just toast maybe......

I seem to recall the BRAT approach is recommended (certainly for children but must be good for adults too??)

B = Bananas
R = Rice
A = Apples
T = Toast

Hope you feel better soon! Had vile D&V bug a few weeks ago....mind you didn't do the BRAT thing & had Carte D'Or Raspberry cheesecake ice cream afterwards & felt fine!

If you think you were sick through eating something dodgy rather than because of a bug, you should be safe to eat whatever you feel like. As long as you have got rid of all the dodgy food. BRAT is for people recovering from a stomach bug.

So what do you fancy eating?

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 19/06/2010 20:29

Well I really dispise bananas, so the BRAT appraoch doesn't get off to a very good start!

I really fancy pizza - but I can't be bothered to make the dough for the base!

Perhaps some pasta would hit the spot - I'm so hungry all of a sudden but worried in case I am sick again .

If I were you, I would start with a piece of toast (in my case, with marmite on, but I know marmite divides the nation). Nibble a bit and see how you feel. If you still feel hungry after introducing food to your stomach, you are probably over it and free to eat whatever you fancy.

But don't come to me if I turn out to be wrong please!

A carb rich food like pasta is good. No heavy sauce though.

Right, off to see what we've got in.

Thanks for your words of wisdom!
