endometrial ablation

Hi,
I'm due to have an endometrial ablation - has anyone any experience of this. It's day surgery so I'll only need a few days off work but am wondering if there is anything I need to know.
Thanks

Is that the laser sugery or where they 'peel' it?

I have had the laser one. Felt like I had been booted in the stomach and I couldn't stand up straight for a few days.

It's laser surgey (some machine that burns away the womb lining anyway); maybe I need more than a couple of days off work ;o)

I had it done where they use heated water - thermal ablation I think it was called. It was fine.

I had a GA and was in and out in a day. No problems, felt fine and it def helped. Periods didn't stop altogether but much lighter and more manageable.

I took it easier for a few days but I felt ok.

Ok, the same as what I had then. In fact I have had 2 laparoscopies and both times I could not understand how it is classed as minor surgery. Its not unbearable pain but you cannot straighten for a few days. I found putting a massive cushion under my legs in bed really helped, like the backs of the sofa, not just a normal cushion.

I couple of days probably won't be enough.

I had it exactly a year ago. Had a cyst and ovary removed at the same time so had two weeks off work.

Found discomfort from bloated stomach (they fill you with gas) worse than pain.

Only had 2 periods since, so well worth it!

I had the laser ablation under GA in December 2009,after the operation had mild stomach cramps but was given some pain relief. I took a week off work, bled lightly for over a fortnight, since then no periods!!! Fantastic!!! Good Luck
