Driving home after a coil fitting?

I'm having a coil fitted on Thursday and have heard that you're not supposed to drive home afterwards in case you feel faint. I can't see anything on the NHS site about it -- obv I will call the clinic tomorrow to see what they say but just wondered if anyone else had been told this?

When I had mine fitted I was told to take some painkillers before I went to the clinic. I drove my can home and felt fine. After the fitting I was allowed some time to compose myself to make sure I felt ok before leaving the clinic. Hope this helps.

I drove home after having mine. GP never said anything about not driving. She just made me relax on the bed for a bit and said I could get up and get dressed when I was ready. I felt fine, got dressed and drove home.

In fact I've had two and I drove home both times.

I didn't drive home (I can't drive) but I did go round the shops and then out for lunch after wards.

Thank you all, CrackFox I'm glad it didn't stop you from the important things in life

I took some painkiller before I went, and the doctor suggested I go and have a cuppa before driving home, which is what I did. Was fine.

Plus cake, obv.

i think you are fine to drive if you don't react to the insertion and you aren't going to know that until the day. I couldn't drive home - i couldn't stand up for 4 hours - but this was a rare and severe reaction.

I'm having it fitted on my birthday so hope I'm not stuck lying down for hours!

I walked to the hospital (because it is about 200 yards from my house) and was told off for walking rather than driving! Either would have been fine as it happens.
